Artist Profile - David Schwarz

David Schwarz was born in Vancouver, Washington in 1952.   Schwarz earned his BFA in 1979 from Central Washington University and a Master of Science/Glass in 1982 from Illinois State University under Joel Philip Meyers. He has an extensive gallery and exhibition history.  David's work is featured in numerous books and journals and is part of both public and corporate collections nationwide. Schwarz creates a hand blown orb, then masks and sandblasts complex imagery onto the surface. The artist then grinds carefully placed concave portals into the glass, which allow the viewer to explore the worlds created by the interplay of reflected and refracted light, designs and colors within the piece.
